What it looks like in the log

Any one of these lines is enough. The agent matches them locally, on your server.

logs/latest.log
  • No space left on device

Symptoms

  • The world, player data and plugin configs are not saved; logs are cut off
  • In the log: “java.io.IOException: No space left on device”

Cause

The operating system refused to write a file: the partition holding the server has run out of space (or inodes). Anything the server writes during this time (world, player data, logs) may be lost or corrupted.

Possible causes

  • Backups, logs, dumps (heap dumps, crash-reports) or timings/spark profiles have grown too large
  • The world (pre-generation, exploration) or a plugin database (CoreProtect SQLite) has grown too large
  • Inodes or the hosting quota are exhausted despite free space

How to fixMedium risk

  1. Free up space urgently: df -h and df -i show the partition and inodes; du -sh * | sort -h in the server folder shows what is taking up space (old backups, logs/*.log.gz, crash-reports, *.hprof).
  2. Do not stop the server until space has been freed — on shutdown it will try to save the world and may write incomplete files; once space is free, run save-all.
  3. Check the integrity of the world and plugin data after the incident; restore from a backup if anything is corrupted.
  4. Set up backup/log rotation and disk usage alerts.
